Diana Coad – Chair and Fundraising

I’m Diana, and I was brought up in the East End of London to parents who both had a disability (my mum had two) but who always worked.  They raised me to help others and to give back. I was widowed in 2013, but now I live with my lovely partner, John, and five hounds: Larry, Malcolm, Trina, Fanny, and Roger.

My background was modelling, Timber Broker, Fleet Street, and my own business and politics, (both local and national). I have been a trustee with a disabled club for 22 years. I

worked with other causes, including Age Concern and some that were aimed at homelessness and domestic abuse (my home was a refuge for people who were referred from them). I was President of a Sikh charity for street children in India. I have been active in supporting education for young people in the Gambia.  I was on four different councils for some 20-plus years and stood for parliament almost succeeding several times. I am with The Royal British Legion poppy appeal and always organised Christmas “shoeboxes” for the troops overseas at Christmas.

Anyone who knows me well would know I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis – but it doesn’t nor should it stop me. I am presently the poppy appeal organiser for Lowestoft and a fundraiser for a dog shelter. I also chair several fostering panels and have done so for decades!

I am going to add a lot to this project with not only my experience but my “tower of strength” personality and Christian principles. This trustee role is perfect for me. I have spent many years rebuilding people professionally and personally, coaching them through practical, emotional, and spiritual issues to get them through the tough times…..and we have had so many of those nationally and internationally over the last few years.

But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. (1 Corinthians 15:10)
